Cameroon is a vast and diverse land; lying just north of the equator, this bird-rich nation forms the inter-grade between West and Central Africa and harbours a wide range of habitats, ranging from steamy lowland rainforest to Sahelian semi-desert. By combining our Rainforest & Rockfowl tour with our Northern Extension you have an unbeatable three-week Cameroon birding tour that visits several of the countries core ecological zones and provides a thorough coverage of this, West Africa’s richest birding destination. Due to its wealth of habitats over 900 bird species have been recorded and 26 endemic or near-endemic species occur, most of which you can expect to see on this tour!

Demanding & tiring. Designed for the dedicated lister & serious birder. Not suitable for inexperienced travellers, dedicated or avid photographers; inexperienced birders; or anyone with mobility or health challenges.
Comfortable in main cities/towns, basic elsewhere.
Moderate to difficult. Many low-density targets that may require repeat attempts.
Rainforest of Campo Maán, spectacular Mt. Cameroon, Gorilla trekking
Good in the more open northern extension, average to difficult in the southern rainforests.
An excellent tour. David was a great guide and not only found all the difficult species but also navigated us through the Cameroonian logistical difficulties (along with the wonderful fixer, Jean-Pierre) that were frequently encountered.
My answers do not reflect the quality of Rockjumpers, which was superb. I just did not like the deplorable conditions of the country. It was a very rugged trip, as advertised. We did see a lot of birds, many rare and endangered. David was incredibly brilliant and helpful all the way. The country not so much. I have too many comments to list now.
Good trip to a not regularly traveled country. Sometimes it was improvising, but the tour leader and ground agent solved everything well. Excellent guiding and saw a lot of the target birds well. Also beforehand everything was well arranged and communicated by the office team.
