Home to the famous ancient ruins of Angkor Wat and traversed by the mighty Mekong River, the seldom birded nation of Cambodia gave our intrepid group of travellers, guided by David Shackelford, a truly memorable and exotic experience. Time was taken to explore the remarkable structure of Angkor Wat, the world’s largest religious building and an absolute visual feast! This particular tour achieved outstanding views of the critically endangered Giant Ibis, which is almost completely restricted to Cambodia and one of the many avian highlights of the tour. A host of other superb species were also encountered and included Germain’s Peacock-Pheasant, Green Peafowl, the beautiful Black-headed Woodpecker, Blue-rumped and Bar-bellied Pitta, White-rumped Falconet, White-shouldered Ibis, Masked Finfoot, Bengal Florican, Milky Stork, Pale-headed Woodpecker, Sarus Crane, Mekong Wagtail, Pale-capped Pigeon and the rare Irrawaddy Dolphin.
