Saffron Toucanet was voted as number one bird of our Brazil & Argentina trip, which I led last year July. The trip covers the Amazon rainforest, Pantanal, Cerrado and Iguazú, which delivers a whole host of specials. However, how often do you get to see an entirely yellow toucan? We lucked into the species along a forest trail inside Iguazú National Park. What a stunning bird! This Atlantic Forest endemic can be seen fairly reliably in Itatiaia National Park, Brazil, but the fact that we saw it in Argentina makes our sighting even more special. According to our local Iguazú guide, he had seen the species only about three times in 10 years!
