Nestled in north-eastern India in the formerly independent Assam, Kaziranga National Park is one of the most spectacular wildernesses in all of Asia. This area gains its fame as one of the last places on earth where the prehistoric Indian Rhinoceros can be found. In fact, game abounds in the watery meadows that make Kaziranga so aesthetically pleasing – no other site in Asia can match the vast herds of big mammals that occur here! We’ll search for Asian Elephant, Swamp Francolin, Pied Falconet and a plethora of other exciting birds and mammals that occur abundantly in this biologically diverse part of the natural world. To boot, we will also spend time exploring the riches of Manas National Park. This park boasts extensive grasslands and broad-leaved forests near the Bhutanese border, home to the endangered Bengal Florican, tricky Grey-lored Broadbill and an abundance of mammals.
This tour is not available to nationals (and other nationals having their origin in these countries) of China, Pakistan or Afghanistan due to Restricted Area Permit requirements to enter Arunachal Pradesh and/or Assam.

Moderate to undemanding. Suitable for all birding / wildlife interest levels. Some long drives.
Comfortable hotels and simple eco-camp
Undemanding. Most species provide good visuals in open conditions. Some forest edge, but true forest birding is limited.

Assam mega-fauna
Good to excellent. From vehicle & in lodge gardens.
The Andaman Islands were a first for RockJumper and a first for David Hoddinott. It was an incredible experience and also exciting to share the first of all new endemics with David .
This was a great trip. A terrific itinerary and we saw lots of birds and we saw tigers at Ranthambhore and Corbett. Glen and [the local leader] were excellent guides—great spotting skills, and they made sure everyone saw the bird. The logistics worked very well because Glen and [the local leader] were a great team.
David Hoddinott is simply outstanding: Calm, focused, truly excellent knowledge of the birds, their calls and habits. He has a wonderful sense of humour, too.
Clayton was friendly, informative and fun.... Very athletic and cheerful. Find him to be a wonderful guide.
This was my first Rockjumper trip. I definitely will be a repeat customer. The booking process was easy and painless. The transport and hotel logistics during the trip were flawless. David Hoddinott and Ansar Khan were excellent guides and worked diligently to make sure we saw as many birds as possible.
