This birding adventure takes us to the rarely visited and remote destinations of Munsiyari and Chaukori in the Western Himalaya. We will have the rare opportunity to search for a host of Asia’s most tantalising and desirable species, including the stunning Satyr Tragopan, tricky Cheer & Koklass Pheasants, metallic Himalayan Monal and Wallcreeper. We’ll also visit the better-known sites of Sattal in the Kumaon Himalaya foothills and Jim Corbett National Park in search of numerous woodpeckers, hornbills, parakeets, and babblers, as well as several mammals including the scare Bengal Tiger, several deer and Asian Elephant.

Moderate to undemanding. Suitable for all birding / wildlife interest levels. India is an assault on the senses first time around, requiring a little tolerance to begin with.
Comfortable.
Undemanding. Most species provide good visuals in open conditions. Some forest edge, but true forest birding is limited.
Himalayan scenery
Good to excellent. From vehicle and in lodge gardens.
I just have to write and tell you how much I enjoyed the N. India trip and how superb the leaders are… Erik and Rich worked so well together and both are so funny, such a great combination…. With much gratitude to RBT for bringing birds and mammals into my life.
As usual another fantastic journey masterfully organized and enabling us to discover places and birds in the best possible way. Supreme guide, all matters perfect, except the lack of heating in the bus. Chilly India, believe it or not !
This was a great trip. A terrific itinerary and we saw lots of birds and we saw tigers at Ranthambhore and Corbett. Glen and [the local leader] were excellent guides—great spotting skills, and they made sure everyone saw the bird. The logistics worked very well because Glen and [the local leader] were a great team.
This was the first group birding tour Ive ever taken (meaning, more than myself and either one or two other persons). Rockjumper and Nigel Redman made it a very pleasurable experience, with wonderful birds, beautiful landscapes, and good flexibility and adaptability to the various challenges and obstacles thrown our way on the trip. I heartily recommend both this tour and Nigel Redman as a tour leader! I would happily go on any tour for which Nigel was the leader; his knowledge of ornithology, history, and birding folklore is encycylopedic, and his easy humor and casual nature made for happy hours in our vehicles or over dinner tables (this, in contrast to the group next to us in some of the dining halls, where hardly a word was spoken by any tour member when the trip leader was going through the days list; that was a dictatorship; Nigels tour was a democracy in many ways.)
To David Hoddinott with many thanks. In my book, you are still the best guide I’ve ever birded with. Please give my regards to the office team. I am very proud to be part of the Rockjumper Family.
