This comprehensive tour covers the most exciting regions of the Cape in our quest to experience both breathtaking displays of wildflowers and to track down some of the countrys endemic birds. We cover the vibrant city of Cape Town, where Table Mountain provides a spectacular backdrop to the immensely diverse fynbos that cloaks the cities periphery. This fynbos constitutes the Cape Floral Kingdom – the smallest and richest of the world’s 6 floral kingdoms. It is also the only floral kingdom to be confined to the boundaries of a single country. We venture to the West Coast and Namaqualand, which boast an outrageous and world famous floral display in years of good rains, whilst also traversing the heart of the country’s semi-desert region, focusing on the special bird’s endemic to this ancient landscape. We also depart pur wildflower country by heading to Augrabies Falls, an area offering unparalleled raptor viewing and a wide range of dry region birds. I`d like to write some words about our guide, James Wade Lee. I must admit that I haven’t met such a good bird guide in a long time. Despite his young age, Wade is an excellent guide – he knows the calls of all the birds perfectly and can spot them without fail. Many times we all searched through our binoculars in the thick undergrowth for a singing bird, and it was always only Wade who found it – somewhere in the tangle of twigs in the distance. It’s clear he has a fantastic grasp of the terrain. On top of that, he’s polite, friendly, very well-mannered and has good breeding – what more could one ask for? I had an excellent birding adventure. Daniel Danckwerts was superb at finding and identifying the myriad of species. He interfaces with the group exceptionally well, from the beginner birder to the pros on the tour. I would love to go on another birding tour with Dan, as he was exceptionally skilled at his craft. Other environmental/birding issues would pop up for conversation and he was skilled in his answers and knowledge. His passion for birding was very apparent, as well as his thoughtfulness in making sure everyone was on the bird and helping with our travel experience.

Since our trip left right after Easter, and the office was supposed to be closed, I REALLY appreciated Lorna responding to my questions in such a timely fashion. She was right there with answers. Accommodations were very very nice, esp Whale View Manor (within walking distance of penguins). The food was fabulous. Greg de Klerk is the best guide I’ve ever travelled with. He is very knowledgeable, kind, and has a great sense of humour. He did his best to make sure everyone saw as many birds as possible, and that we knew what we were seeing. He continually checked in with us, to make sure everyone was having a good time. He made a good trip into a great trip.

Ryan is an excellent tour guide and absolutely a top notch birder ! He is truly persistent when it comes to finding a bird . He adapts well to changing conditions . The accommodations were very nice . Each stop had a pleasant atmosphere . The food was great - too much good stuff ! My wife is gluten intolerant and each stop and restaurant tried their best to help her . Water was plentiful and welcome .
