Then it is off am an adventure to reach the remote Lac Matsaborimena, which will be the undoubted highlight of the trip as we search for Madagascan Pochard, the critically endangered Slender-billed Flufftail, declining Malagasy Harrier and rare Red Owl.

What our clients say about us

Adam Walleyn
RV, Madagascar

With Adam Walleyn as our guide, it was hard to imagine how the trip could have been any better. Madagascar is certainly a challenging place, but his experience and ability to help us know what to expect were invaluable. As far as seeing birds, my expectations were exceeded. A great trip.

Stuart Elsom
AM, Madagascar - Budget Birding 2025

This tour was a pleasant surprise and exceeded expectations. For a “budget” tour, I was expecting much more basic accommodations, especially for Madagascar. I was happy with where we stayed, there was almost always WiFi and electricity available, which I hadn’t been relying on. The food at the Bamboo Club was especially nice, and the grounds at the Au Bois Vert were the perfect place to start a tour, with plenty of garden birds to start a baseline understanding of Madagascar birds with. Stu was a wonderful leader, and did the lords work to get everyone on each bird, despite the varying degrees of experience by participants on the trip. Despite only 10-11 days of birding, we cleaned up a huge number of Madagascar endemics and I was happy with all the birds seen and photos taken, despite occasional environmental and logistical challenge as expected in Madagascar. This was a great trip, I’m happy I was able to go, and I would go out of my way to join another tour with Stu as the leader any day.

KO & MD, Madagascar 2018

Adam Walleyn was amazing, and we will definitely be looking into arranging a private Rockjumper tour with him in the future. Not only did he have extensive knowledge of the birds, but also the other flora and fauna, as well as some of the historical aspects of Madagascar.

Adam Walleyn
JM, Madagascar 2018

Excellent tour overall. Adam Walleyn is probably the best overall bird tour guide I have had the pleasure of touring with. He not only knows the birds and wildlife, but is great at handling all types of people and doing whatever he can to make the tour fun, pleasant, and productive. He was always respectful of participants, and made sure their priorities were the focus of the trip rather than his own.

Our guide, Adam Walleyn, was exceptional. His knowledge and enthusiasm is unparalleled.
