Javi (pronounced “hah-bee") is an ornithologist from Bilbao in northern Spain. He has worked on numerous international bird research and conservation projects, focusing on species such as the Cinereous Vulture in Greece, the reintroduction of the Bearded Vulture and Osprey in northern Spain, the raptor migration in the Strait of Gibraltar and the Turkey Vulture in North America. Javi has contributed to over 30 scientific and identification papers and book chapters and has served as a member of the Spanish Committee of Rare Birds. For over a decade, he has lived with his family in Tarifa (Strait of Gibraltar), where he works full-time as a bird and wildlife photography guide in Spain and Morocco. He also leads several annual tours focused on the Iberian Lynx in Spain and the Sand Cat in the Sahara.
